Skin needling is a more targeting, localised version of Derma-rolling. Both skin needling and derma-rolling use tiny needles to prick the skin to varying depths in order to stimulate collagen renewal. Dermal-Rolling uses a small rolling device that is used in larger areas, whilst the Pen or stamp can be used in small targeted areas like around the eyes, nose and lips to name a few.
The advantage of using the targeted skin needling method is that your dermal therapist can focus on traditionally difficult areas to treat in a safer and more controlled way.
The concept of skin needling is to cause a controlled ‘damage’ the dermis, which in turn stimulates the body’s natural collagen production as it begins the process of healing. Collagen takes approximately 4-6 weeks to regenerate, so over the course of a few weeks you skin’s texture, laxity and fine lines and wrinkles start to improve and firm, leaving a more youthful and natural result.
Traditionally clinics would use ablative treatments such as lasers and chemical peels that would work on the whole skin. This would have significant down time from a recovery perspective. Skin needling allows us to only have small penetrating dots, reducing down time and patient recovery times.
Here at Face Forward we always recommend a treatment programme of skin needling and good skin care to enhance your optimal results, and will work closely with you to get the best response for you.
